The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Start off your visit on the 18th (Wed): make a trip to Hakata Station, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tochoji Temple, then enjoy breathtaking views from Fukuoka Tower, then let little ones run wild at Ohori Park, and finally buy something for everyone on your list at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center. Keep things going the next day: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kamado Shrine, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dazaifu Tenman-gu, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Komyozen-ji Temple, enjoy breathtaking views from Komenoyama Obsevatory, then explore the world behind art at Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Kushida Shrine.

Singapore, Singapore to Fukuoka is an approximately 9-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Singapore to Fukuoka. Expect colder temperatures when traveling from Singapore in March; daily highs in Fukuoka reach 17°C and lows reach 7°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Sasebo.

Kick off your visit on the 21st (Sat): don't miss a visit to Hypocenter of Atomic Bombing, get engrossed in the history at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, see the interesting displays at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, stroll around Nagasaki Peace Park, then make a trip to World Peace Symbol Zone, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Inasa. On the 22nd (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Ōura Church, then take in nature's colorful creations at Glover Garden, then see the interesting displays at Dejima, and finally make a trip to Nagasaki Prefectural Government Observation Deck.

You can drive from Nagasaki to Beppu in 3 hours. Other options are to take a train; or take a bus. In March, plan for daily highs up to 15°C, and evening lows to 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Kumamoto.
