Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Cannaregio and San Giorgio Maggiore. Basilica di Sant’Antonio - Basilica del Santo and Basilica di San Marco will appeal to history buffs. When in Venice, make a side trip to see Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, approximately 42 minutes away. There's still lots to do: admire the striking features of Porta della Carta, snap pictures at Ponte dei Sospiri, get to know the fascinating history of St. Mark's Square, and contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande.

Little Rock, USA to Venice is an approximately 17-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 7 hours traveling from Little Rock to Venice. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Little Rock in June: high temperatures in Venice hover around 81°F and lows are around 64°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Sun) to allow enough time to take a train to Verona.

The famous setting for Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, Verona is one of northern Italy's main tourist destinations, largely owing to its incredibly rich artistic heritage.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Mon): don't miss a visit to Piazza Bra, contemplate the long history of Arena di Verona, then wander the streets of Piazza delle Erbe, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore, and finally admire the masterpieces at Castelvecchio Museum.

You can take a train from Venice to Verona in 1.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In June, plan for daily highs up to 83°F, and evening lows to 63°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Tue) early enough to catch the train to Florence.

Get some historical perspective at Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and The Baptistery of St. John. Explore hidden gems such as Pitti Palace and Abbazia di San Miniato al Monte.
