A gateway to the island, Hakodate has gained a reputation for its waterfront attractions, its proximity to some of the island's most popular natural sites, and its seafood.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Tue): enjoy breathtaking views from Goryokaku Tower, admire the landmark architecture of Goryokaku Park, wander the streets of Motomachi, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Hakodate, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Hakodate Orthodox Church. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 5th (Wed): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Trappistine Monasteries, get to know the fascinating history of Onuma Park Walking Path, take in the spiritual surroundings of Trappist Monasteries, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Yafurai Tenmangu, and finally steep yourself in history at The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward.

Singapore, Singapore to Hakodate is an approximately 12- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. The time zone changes from Singapore Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Singapore in August, things will get little chillier in Hakodate: highs are around 28°C and lows about 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Wed) to allow enough time to take a train to Noboribetsu.

Kick off your visit on the 6th (Thu): take in the natural beauty of Oyunumagawa Natural Footbath, explore the striking landscape at Jigokudani, witness a stunning natural landmark at Oyunuma, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Muroran Hachimangu Shrine, then get outside with Denshin Beach, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nakajima Shrine.

Take a train from Hakodate to Noboribetsu in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. August in Noboribetsu sees daily highs of 27°C and lows of 22°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Thu) early enough to travel to Shari-cho.

You can do a combination of flight and taxi from Noboribetsu to Shari-cho in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. August in Shari-cho sees daily highs of 26°C and lows of 20°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Sat) so you can drive to Asahikawa.
