Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Step out of Venice with an excursion to Scrovegni Chapel in Padua--about 54 minutes away. There's lots more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, admire the masterpieces at Gallerie dell'Accademia, admire the landmark architecture of Doge's Palace, and enjoy breathtaking views from St Mark's Campanile.

On the 8th (Wed), admire the masterpieces at Florence Academy of Fine Arts, see the interesting displays at Pitti Palace, then make a trip to Piazzale Michelangelo, then take in the views from Ponte Vecchio, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.
