Most travelers take a trip to Bayeux to see the famed tapestry depicting the legendary Norman Conquest from the 11th century.
Shop till you drop at Maison Lebrec and H2O Parapluies. Step off the beaten path and head to Omaha Beach and Batterie Allemande de Longues-Sure-Mer. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bayeux: Cimetiere Militaire Allemand de La Cambe (in La Cambe), Ranville (Pegasus Memorial & Pegasus Bridge) and Chateau Guillaume-le-Conquerant (in Falaise). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux, learn about all things military at Overlord Museum - Omaha Beach, steep yourself in history at Remains Mulberry Harbour, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Angoville-Au-Plain.

Once the feared base of pirates and heavily fortified against Norman attacks, today's coastal Saint-Malo is one of the top tourist draws.
Get a sense of the local culture at Fort La Latte and Chateau de Fougeres. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Cap Fréhel and Place Henri IV. Explore Saint-Malo's surroundings by going to Old City Walls of Vannes (in Vannes) and Cimetiere Militaire Americain de Saint-James (in Saint James). There's much more to do: get to know the fascinating history of Promenade du Clair de Lune, savor the flavors at Marche aux Huitres, and steep yourself in history at Les Remparts de Dinan.
