Known as the "judicial capital of the world," The Hague is the center for everything official in the Netherlands: the home of the Dutch government and parliament, the workplace of the King and Queen, and the base of many international affairs such as the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to The Mauritshuis Royal Picture Gallery and Het Strand Van Noordwijk Aan Zeedd. Visiting Strand van Katwijk aan Zee and Landgoed Clingendael will get you outdoors. You'll find plenty of places to visit near The Hague: Hoek van Holland beach (in Hoek van Holland), Strand Rockanje (in Rockanje) and Marekerk (in Leiden).
