Manila, Philippines to Hakodate is an approximately 11- hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Traveling from Manila to Hakodate, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Prepare for cooler weather when traveling from Manila in April: high temperatures in Hakodate hover around 13°C and lows are around 5°C. A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Bring the kids along to Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku-no Mura) and Maruyama Zoo. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sapporo: Otaru (The Site of Temiya Line, Otaru Canal, &more). Do a combination of shuttle and flight from Hakodate to Sapporo in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. When traveling from Hakodate in April, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Sapporo: temperatures range from 9°C by day to 7°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Sat) early enough to catch the train to Asahikawa.

Traveling by train from Sapporo to Asahikawa takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In April, daytime highs in Asahikawa are 8°C, while nighttime lows are 6°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Mon) so you can drive to Kamikawa-cho.

Kids will appreciate attractions like Noboribetsu Date Historic Village and Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe. Change things up with these side-trips from Noboribetsu: Sobetsu-cho (Showashinzan & Hamada Marutome Fruits Gaden) and Lake Toya Ranch (in Toyako-cho).
