The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Ise Shrine Geku and Oharai-machi. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Kyoto: Ise (Sarutahiko Shrine & Okageza). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Eikando Zenrinji Temple, wander the streets of Gion, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, and admire the natural beauty at Nanzen-ji Temple.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Kyoto is an approximately 13.5- hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly; or do a combination of flight and bus. The time zone difference when traveling from Dubai to Kyoto is 5 hours. Plan for colder temperatures traveling from Dubai in February, with highs in Kyoto at 11°C and lows at 1°C. Change things up with a short trip to Jindai-ji Temple in Chofu (about 42 minutes away). And it doesn't end there: take in the spiritual surroundings of Senso-ji Temple, view the masterpieces at Wa Space, don't miss a visit to Meiji Jingu Shrine, and ponder the world of politics at Imperial Palace.

Take a train from Kyoto to Tokyo in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In February, plan for daily highs up to 12°C, and evening lows to 2°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Tue) so you can travel to Miyakojima.

Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Tokyo in March: high temperatures in Miyakojima hover around 26°C and lows are around 20°C.
