Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Explore hidden gems such as Hase-dera Temple and Tokyo National Museum. Visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Kōtoku-in for their historical value. Step out of Tokyo with an excursion to Hase-dera Temple Kannondo in Kamakura--about 58 minutes away. There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Asakusa Shrine, admire the striking features of Tokyo Tower, ponder the world of politics at Imperial Palace, and examine the collection at Edo-Tokyo Museum.

The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 14 hour difference. Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kinkaku-ji will appeal to history buffs. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sanjusangendo Temple. Take a break from Kyoto with a short trip to Dotombori in Dotombori, about 1h 10 min away. And it doesn't end there: make a trip to Nijo Castle, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ryoanji Temple, and take a stroll through Gion.

Traveling by combination of train, flight, and ferry from Kyoto to Iriomote-jima takes 7.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and ferry; or do a combination of train, bus, and ferry. In June, Iriomote-jima is a bit warmer than Kyoto - with highs of 89°F and lows of 81°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Tue) to allow time to ride a ferry to Ishigaki.
