Miyakojima

Ishigaki

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Get some cultural insight at Island Countryside Settlement and Nawa Insect Museum Haimurubushi. Museum-lovers will appreciate Ishigaki Yaima Village and Kuroshima Research Institute. Go for a jaunt from Ishigaki to Kuro-shima to see Nakamoto Beach about 1h 10 min away. Onna-son

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Nakagusuku Castle Ruins and Okinawa Peace Memorial Park. Get a sense of the local culture at Zakimi Castle Ruins and Katsuren Castle Ruins. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Onna-son: Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters (in Tomigusuku), Nirai Beach (in Yomitan-son) and Himeyuri Peace Museum (in Itoman). In July, daytime highs in Onna-son are 89°F, while nighttime lows are 79°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sun) so you can travel to Biei-cho.

Biei-cho

Famous for scenic views of vast fields, wide meadows, and gently rolling hills against the backdrop of the Taisetsu mountain range, Biei-cho offers a picture-prefect setting for a pleasant countryside vacation.
Start off your visit on the 18th (Mon): admire the natural beauty at Shikisai no Oka, then take in the exciting artwork at Takushinkan, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Biei Shrine, and finally explore the activities along Shirogane Blue Pond.

You can fly from Onna-son to Biei-cho in 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of bus, flight, and train; or do a combination of car, ferry, train, and bus. In July, Biei-cho is slightly colder than Onna-son - with highs of 78°F and lows of 65°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
