Known as one of the greatest small cities in the world, Amsterdam charms visitors with its cool and cozy atmosphere.
Visit Anne Frank House and Begijnhof for their historical value. You'll get in some beach time at Spiegelplas en Blijkpolderplas and Zandvoort aan Zee. Venture out of the city with trips to Gemeenlandshuis van Delfland (in Delft) and Zandmotor (in The Hague). There's much more to do: take a stroll through The Jordaan, take in the architecture and atmosphere at English Reformed Church, admire the masterpieces at Rijksmuseum, and browse the exhibits of Museum Het Rembrandthuis (Rembrandt House).

Bogota, Colombia to Amsterdam is an approximately 13-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. The country's capital and largest city, Berlin is a diverse urban center boasting a lively nightlife and countless things to do.
Get some historical perspective at Memorial and Museum Sachsenhausen and East Side Gallery. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Berliner Dom and Großer Tiergarten. There's much more to do: admire the masterpieces at Pergamonmuseum, explore the historical opulence of Charlottenburg Palace, and appreciate the history behind Brandenburg Gate.

Kick off your visit on the 6th (Sun): see the interesting displays at Neues Grünes Gewölbe, then explore the historical opulence of Big courtyard of the Residence / Grosser Schlosshof Dresdner Residenz, then make a trip to Frauenkirche, and finally explore the world behind art at Albertinum. Here are some ideas for day two: admire the masterpieces at Gemaldegalerie Alte Meister, make a trip to Procession of Princes, then steep yourself in history at Sachsisches Standehaus, and finally take in the awesome beauty at Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

An old imperial city, Rothenburg is the main tourist stop on the scenic Romantic Road of Bavaria.
Step off the beaten path and head to Vieille Ville and Würzburg Residence. Your inner history buff will appreciate Town Walls and Bamberg Altstadt. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Rothenburg: Bamberg Cathedral (in Bamberg), Marienburg Fortress (in Wurzburg) and Ulmer Münster (in Ulm). The adventure continues: get a sense of history and politics at Stadt Rothenburg ob der Tauber, contemplate the long history of Siebers Tower, see the interesting displays at Medieval Crime Museum (Mittelalterliches Kriminalmuseum), and take an in-depth tour of Reichsstadtmuseum.

Drive from Dresden to Rothenburg in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of flight and train. In October in Rothenburg, expect temperatures between 15°C during the day and 7°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
