Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Kick off your visit on the 30th (Tue): contemplate the waterfront views at Meguro River, stroll around Odaiba Kaihin Koen (Odaiba Seaside Park), and then wander the streets of Marunouchi. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: identify plant and animal life at Kamiyatsuno Okusuu and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Takao.

If you are flying in from France, the closest major airports are Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport and Hyakuri Airport. In April, plan for daily highs up to 22°C, and evening lows to 12°C. On the 2nd (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Kamakura.

Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
On the 2nd (Thu), explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle, then take an in-depth tour of Koshien History Museum, and then take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Rokko. Here are some ideas for day two: take a stroll through Dotonbori, head outdoors with Eeyan, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Waterfall of Mino.

The country's first established capital, Nara houses some of the most storied buildings and natural attractions in Japan, with eight World Heritage Sites in total.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Sat): pause for some photo ops at Todai-ji Temple, sample the tasty concoctions at Harushika Brewery, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nigatsu-do Temple, then identify plant and animal life at Nara Park, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Toshodaiji Temple.

Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Hakone-machi in May: highs in Kyoto hover around 29°C, while lows dip to 17°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Nara.

You can take a train from Hatsukaichi to Hakone-machi in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. While traveling from Hatsukaichi, expect a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Hakone-machi, ranging from highs of 21°C to lows of 19°C. You will leave for Kamakura on the 12th (Sun).
