On the 3rd (Wed), examine the collection at Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum, walk around Kemasakuranomiya Park, enjoy breathtaking views from Harukas 300 Observation Deck, thenwander the streets of Dotombori District, thenhave some family-friendly fun at Sunset Owl Cafe, and finally get a taste of the local shopping with Hankyu Umeda Honten. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 4th (Thu): get a sense of history and politics at Mint Museum, thenkick back and relax at Osaka Fureai no Mizube, thenmake a trip to Hozenji Yokocho, and finally wander the streets of Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Osaka takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In June, daytime highs in Osaka are 81°F, while nighttime lows are 67°F. On the 5th (Fri), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kyoto Railway Museum and Heian Shrine. Head to Nishiki Market Shopping District and Ippodo Tea Kyotofor plenty of shopping. Change things up with these side-trips from Kyoto: 玄宮園 - Genkyūen Garden 玄宮園 (in Hikone) and Uji (Obakusan Manpuku - ji Temple & Mimurotoji Temple). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Nishi Honganji, steep yourself in history at Genkoan, explore the activities along Lake Biwa, and don't miss a visit to Nijo Castle.

Take a train from Osaka to Kyoto in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 81°F in June, and nighttime lows around 67°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 9th (Tue) to allow time to take a train to Tokyo.
