With the chance to visit a World Heritage-listed inner city, tours of Paramaribo remain among the most culturally enriching things tourists can do in Suriname.

Get out of town with these interesting Paramaribo side-trips: Peperpot Nature Park (in Meerzorg), Nieuw Amsterdam (Marienburg suikerfabriek, Hindustan Mosque, &more) and Reynsdorp (Warappa Kreek & Museum Bakkie). Spend the 12th (Fri) in the pleasant surroundings of Tafelberg Nature Preserve. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Waterkant (Riverside Boulevard), get to know the resident critters at Paramaribo Zoo, contemplate the waterfront views at Commewijne River, and walk around Brownsberg Nature Park.
