The riverside city of Battambang draws visitors with its easy charm, rich culture, and convenient location close to a number of historical sites.
Start off your visit on the 30th (Mon): stop by La Fabrik. Once a small village in northwest Cambodia, Siem Reap now serves as a gateway to the Angkor region's World Heritage-listed temple and other attractions.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Preah Khan and Angkor National Museum. Bayon Temple and Beng Mealea will appeal to history buffs. Spend the 11th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's still lots to do: delve into the distant past at Angkor Wat, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ta Prohm, examine the collection at Cambodia Landmine Museum, and steep yourself in history at Baphuon Temple.
