Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
Kids will enjoy Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Gion. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Sanjusangendo Temple. Explore Osaka's surroundings by going to Nara (Kofuku-ji Temple, Nara Park, &more) and Kyoto (Nijo Castle & Nishiki Market Shopping District). The adventure continues: take a stroll through Dotombori District and find something for the whole family at Universal Studios Japan.
