Your list of things to see and do now includes Nakagin Capsule Tower Building, The National Art Center, Tokyo, Vivo Bar & Lounge, and other attractions. Get some historical perspective at The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace (Edo Castle Ruin) and Hie Jinjya. Get some cultural insight at Takeshita Street and Akihabara. Change things up with these side-trips from Tokyo: Koajiro Forest (in Miura) and Sankeien Gardens (in Naka). The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Gion and Sanjusangendo Temple are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Kyoto Railway Museum and Kyoto Ukiyo-e Museum. The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, get engrossed in the history at Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan, take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and shop like a local with Nishiki Market.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 3 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. In April, plan for daily highs up to 22°C, and evening lows to 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a train to Osaka.
