Shimabara is a city located on the north-eastern tip of the Shimabara Peninsula, facing Ariake Bay in the east and Mount Unzen (including Fugendake) in the west, in Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan.As of October 1, 2016, the city has an estimated population of 44,936 and a population density of 540 persons per km². On the 25th (Sat), appreciate the extensive heritage of Samurai Houses, engage your brain at Gamadasu Dome (Mt. Unzen Disaster Memorial Hall), don't miss a visit to Unzen Jigoku (Unzen Hell), soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens, then enjoy breathtaking views from Nita Pass Second Lookout, and finally take a leisurely stroll along Shimabara Gaiko Seaport. On your second day here, make a trip to Shimabara Castle, take in nature's colorful creations at Yusui Garden Shimeisou, don't miss a visit to Shimabara Yusui Museum, enjoy breathtaking views from Unzen Nita Pass, then take in the awesome beauty at Nita Toge, and finally don't miss a visit to Shimabara Spring Group.
