Perhaps best known for its locally produced mustard, Dijon also makes a wonderfully flavorful crème de cassis, or blackcurrant liqueur, and boasts excellent examples of regional architecture with polychrome roofs made of tiles in terracotta, green, yellow, and black placed in geometric patterns.
Step off the beaten path and head to Aqua-City and Cathedrale Saint-Benigne de Dijon. Take a break from the city and head to Owl's Trail and Lac Kir. Get out of town with these interesting Dijon side-trips: Le Moulin De La Fleuristerie (in Orges), Boursot Pere & Fils (in Chambolle-Musigny) and Domaine Armelle et Bernard Rion (in Vosne-Romanee). There's lots more to do: admire the natural beauty at Jardin de l'Arquebuse, learn about winemaking at La Cave de l'Ange Gardien, experience rural life at Ferme Fruirouge, and don't miss a visit to Chartreuse de Champmol et Puits de Moise.
