Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Attractions like Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and Edo-Tokyo Museum make great kid-friendly stops. Explore Tokyo's surroundings by going to Fukuro Chabo Cafe (in Kokubunji), Tokyo DisneySea (in Maihama) and Hakone-machi (Lake Ashi (Ashinoko) & The Hakone Open-Air Museum). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine, admire the masterpieces at Tokyo National Museum, take in panoramic vistas at Tokyo Skytree, and make an unforgettable trip to Tokyo Disneyland.

Montreal, Canada to Tokyo is an approximately 16-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or do a combination of bus and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 14 hours traveling from Montreal to Tokyo. In March, Tokyo is warmer than Montreal - with highs of 17°C and lows of 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Mon) so you can take a train to Kanazawa.

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kanazawa: Hakusan (Ishikawa Jumoku Park & Tedori Gorge) and Aratama Valley (in Komatsu). There's lots more to do: take in nature's colorful creations at Kenrokuen Garden, wander the streets of Higashichaya Old Town, step into the grandiose world of Kanazawa Castle, and make a trip to Seisonkaku Villa.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kanazawa in 2.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. Traveling from Tokyo in March, things will get slightly colder in Kanazawa: highs are around 13°C and lows about 3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Thu) to allow time to take a train to Kyoto.

Get out of town with these interesting Kyoto side-trips: Toba (Toba Bay, Toba Aquarium, &more). The country's first established capital, Nara houses some of the most storied buildings and natural attractions in Japan, with eight World Heritage Sites in total.
Kick off your visit on the 31st (Tue): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kofuku-ji Temple, pause for some photo ops at Todai-ji Temple, see the interesting displays at Todaiji Temple Cultural Center, then walk around Nara Park, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kasuga Grand Shrine.
