Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Tokyo National Museum and Sensō-ji. Get some historical perspective at Imperial Palace and Fukagawa Edo Museum. There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Odaiba, shop like a local with Ginza, enjoy the sand and surf at Odaiba Kaihin Koen (Odaiba Seaside Park), and see the interesting displays at Edo-Tokyo Museum.

Start off your visit on the 10th (Tue): step into the grandiose world of Nagoya Castle, examine the collection at Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, engage your brain at Nagoya City Science Museum, then shop like a local with Sakae, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Atsuta Jingu Shrine. Keep things going the next day: explore the world behind art at Tokugawa Art Museum, then contemplate the long history of Nagoya Higashiyamaso, then explore the activities along Yamazaki River, and finally see the interesting displays at SCMAGLEV and Railway Park.

Getting from Nagoya to Kyoto by train takes about an hour. Other options: drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Nagoya in September, you will find days in Kyoto are somewhat warmer (33°C), and nights are about the same (23°C).
