Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Roman Forum as well as Trevi Fountain. Popular historic sites such as Palatine Hill and Colosseum are in your itinerary. Get a sense of the local culture at Vatican Museums and Piazza Navona. Take a break from Rome with a short trip to Villa d'Este in Tivoli, about 48 minutes away. There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica, wander the streets of Trastevere, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Clement Basilica, and admire the landmark architecture of Pantheon.

Louisville, USA to Rome is an approximately 15-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and train. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Central European Time (CET), which is usually a 6 hour difference. In May in Rome, expect temperatures between 75°F during the day and 58°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) so you can catch the train to Florence.
