A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.

In September, Kanazawa is slightly colder than Yakushima-cho - with highs of 78°F and lows of 65°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Kyoto.
