The home of giant pandas for more than two million years, Chengdu's vast human history cowers in comparison to the natural heritage of the area.
Step out of the city life by going to Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Panda Valley. Jiezi Ancient Town and Chengdu Culture Park are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Venture out of the city with trips to Mt. Tiantai Scenic Resort in Qionglai (in Qionglai) and Guanghan Sanxingdui Museum (in Guanghan). There's much more to do: identify plant and animal life at Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi), take in the spiritual surroundings of Baoguang Temple of Chengdu, and examine the collection at Sichuan Opera Museum.

You can fly from Guilin to Chengdu in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. When traveling from Guilin in September, plan for slightly colder days and about the same nights in Chengdu: temperatures range from 30°C by day to 23°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Bangkok.
