The resort town of Yamanouchi-machi has plenty of contrasting, but complementary things going for it.
Start off your visit on the 29th (Tue): fly down the slopes at Shigakogen Sun Valley Ski Area, look for all kinds of wild species at Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, then indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens, then fly down the slopes at Okushiga Kogen Ski Area, and finally tour the pleasant surroundings at Shiga Kogen.
