Giverny is a small French village in Upper Normandy, best known as the rural retreat of the Impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840-1926).
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Plan d'Eau du Canada and Les Andelys. Venture out of the city with trips to Chateau d'Harcourt (in Harcourt), Chapelle Royale St-Louis (in Dreux) and Evreux (L’Atelier de Leo & Musee d'Art, Histoire Et Archeologie d'Evreux). There's much more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Le Vieux Moulin de Vernon, explore the world behind art at MUDO - Musee de l'Oise, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Collegiate Church of Our Lady, and examine the collection at Musee de Mecanique Naturelle.

To find other places to visit, traveler tips, reviews, and other tourist information, refer to the Giverny trip itinerary planner .

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major airports are Paris-Orly Airport, Charles de Gaulle International Airport and Paris Beauvais Tillé Airport. In August, daily temperatures in Giverny can reach 74°F, while at night they dip to 55°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Fri) so you can travel back home.
