Get out of town with these interesting Tokyo side-trips: Sankeien Gardens (in Yokohama), Ghibli Museum (in Mitaka) and Urayasu (Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo DisneySea). London, UK to Tokyo is an approximately 15-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Traveling from London to Tokyo, you'll lose 9 hours due to the time zone difference. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from London in July, with highs in Tokyo at 36°C and lows at 27°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Fri) early enough to take a train to Nagoya.

Known nationally as an industrial heartland, Nagoya boasts a far more cosmopolitan and cultural core than its reputation would lead you to believe.
Explore Nagoya's surroundings by going to Suzuka Circuit (in Suzuka), Magome-juku (in Nakatsugawa) and Nakasendo Walking Trail, Tsumagojuku (in Nagiso-machi). There's lots more to do: step into the grandiose world of Nagoya Castle, make a trip to Inuyama Castle, examine the collection at Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology, and admire nature's wide array of creatures at Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium.

Getting from Tokyo to Nagoya by train takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: fly; or drive. Expect a daytime high around 34°C in August, and nighttime lows around 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Take a break from Kyoto with a short trip to Byodoin in Uji, about 44 minutes away. The adventure continues: get great views at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, and make a trip to Nishiki Market.

Traveling by train from Nagoya to Kyoto takes an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Nagoya in August, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Kyoto: temperatures range from 39°C by day to 29°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Fri) so you can take a train to Osaka.
