On the northern edge of the Pyrénées, Pau is the perfect base to explore the mountains and ride the Funiculaire de Pau, a unique historic funicular railway that links the city center and Boulevard des Pyrénées to the railway station Gare de Pau.
Let the collections at Château de Pau and Abbaye de Flaran capture your imagination. Get a sense of the local culture at Collegiale de la Romieu and Le Village Fortifie de Larressingle. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Pau: Chateau de Lavardens (in Auch City), Cathedrale Saint Pierre et son Cloitre (in Condom) and Le Musee de la Halte du Pelerin (in Larressingle). Next up on the itinerary: push the limits with Experience Canyon, pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise Sainte-Madeleine., examine the collection at Le Musee de l'ALAT et de l'Helicoptere, and look for all kinds of wild species at Natural reserve of Marais d'Orx.

To see ratings, maps, photos, and more tourist information, refer to the Pau travel route builder site.

If you are flying in from New Zealand, the closest major aiports are Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport, Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne Airport and Toulouse-Blagnac Airport. In May, daily temperatures in Pau can reach 24°C, while at night they dip to 12°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
