The lake port city of Otsu has a wealth of sites of historical and cultural importance and lies within close proximity to Kyoto.Explore Otsu's surroundings by going to Miho Museum (in Koka), Hikone Castle (in Hikone) and Nagahama (Kurokabe Square & Chikubushima). There's much more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ishiyamadera Temple, make a trip to Hachiman-bori, get in on the family fun at Lake Biwa Kodomonokuni, and fly down the slopes at Biwako Valley.
For other places to visit, where to stay, reviews, and other tourist information, go to the Otsu trip maker.
