Budapest

— 59 nights

Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Food Tours and Celeritas Shooting Club. Get out of town with these interesting Budapest side-trips: Eger (Minorita Templom, Eger Castle, &more), Gyor (Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady, Chapter Hill, &more) and Sirok Castle (in Sirok). And it doesn't end there: step off the mainland to explore Margaret Island, examine the collection at Budapest Pinball Museum, do a tasting at Faust Wine Cellar, and don't miss a visit to New York Palace.

To find maps, more things to do, traveler tips, and other tourist information, read Budapest tour itinerary site.

If you are flying in from The Netherlands, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In September, daytime highs in Budapest are 25°C, while nighttime lows are 13°C.
