The country's first established capital, Nara houses some of the most storied buildings and natural attractions in Japan, with eight World Heritage Sites in total.
You've now added Todai-ji Temple to your itinerary. Explore Nara's surroundings by going to Iwakura Valley (in Iga), Shuonan Ikkyuji Temple (in Kyotanabe) and Ishitera Tea Plantation (in Wazuka-cho). There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Nara Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Tanzan Shrine, see the interesting displays at Todaiji Temple Cultural Center, and make a trip to Tsudoshiroyama Ancient Tomb.

Traveling by car from Koya-cho to Nara takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a train. In November in Nara, expect temperatures between 19°C during the day and 13°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) so you can drive to Kyoto.

Kyoto

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Ginkakuji Temple, Kinkaku-ji, Nijo Castle, and other attractions you added. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Osaka (Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum, Universal Studios Japan, &more), Byodoin (in Uji) and Dotombori District (in Dotombori). There's still lots to do: take a stroll through Arashiyama, contemplate the long history of Tofuku-ji Temple, stop by Gion, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Eikando Zenrinji Temple.

Drive from Nara to Kyoto in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a train. In November, plan for daily highs up to 19°C, and evening lows to 10°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Sun) to allow time to take a train to Himeji.

Himeji

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
You've now added Himeji Castle to your itinerary.
