Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Piazza delle Erbe and Patrizia Prencipe. Get some cultural insight at Piazza San Marco and Museo di Castelvecchio. Get out of town with these interesting Venice side-trips: Verona (Arena di Verona & Cappella dei Notai). There's much more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, make a trip to Basilica di San Marco, enjoy breathtaking views from St Mark's Campanile, and steep yourself in history at Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo.
