Venice of the North

Known as one of the greatest small cities in the world, Amsterdam charms visitors with its cool and cozy atmosphere.
Shop till you drop at Leidseplein and Albert Cuyp Market. Kids will appreciate attractions like Van Gogh Museum and Vondelpark. When in Amsterdam, make a side trip to see Zandvoort aan Zee in Zandvoort, approximately Zandvoort away. There's still lots to do: visit The Jordaan, admire the masterpieces at Willet-Holthuysen Museum, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at De Duif.

Den Helder is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Bring the kids along to Callantsoog Beach and Eise Eisinga Planetarium. Venture out of the city with trips to Afsluitdijk (in Den Oever) and Port of Harlingen (in Harlingen). There's still lots to do: get to know the resident critters at Landgoed Hoenderdaell, tour the pleasant surroundings at Fort Kijkduin (Museum and Aquarium), brush up on your military savvy at Marinemuseum, and examine the collection at Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers.
