Etretat is a small coastal village on the Alabaster Coast in Normandy.
Kick off your visit on the 11th (Mon): explore the striking landscape at Porte d’Aval and then get great views at Falaises d'Etretat. Caen is known for its historical buildings built during the reign of William the Conqueror, who was buried there, and for the Battle for Caen--heavy fighting that took place in and around Caen during the Battle of Normandy in 1944, destroying much of the city.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Wed): have some family-friendly fun at RS Simulation, witness the site of a historic battle at Omaha Beach, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Normandy American Cemetery, and finally explore the different monuments and memorials at Bayeux War Cemetery. Keep things going the next day: get engrossed in the history at Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux, then admire the striking features of Cathedrale Notre-Dame, then step into the grandiose world of Chateau Guillaume-le-Conquerant, and finally find something for the whole family at Clecygliss.
