City of Romance

Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Kick off your visit on the 9th (Sun): admire the landmark architecture of Basilica di San Marco, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, then steep yourself in history at Scala Contarini del Bovolo, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza San Marco, and finally admire the landmark architecture of Doge's Palace. On your second day here, pause for some serene contemplation at San Giorgio Maggiore, take in the spiritual surroundings of Scuola Grande di San Rocco, then don't miss a visit to Peggy Guggenheim Collection, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, and finally stop by Cannaregio.
