Ightham Mote
Step back in time in this idyllic, moated manor house. Built nearly 700 years ago, Ightham Mote has been owned by a variety of interesting characters, including medieval knights, courtiers to Henry VIII, and high society Victorians. Remarkably, its owners over the years effected relatively few changes to the main structure of the building. This enables you to see how grand the house would have looked in the middle ages. Wander through the picturesque gardens, admire the great hall, and gaze up at the Tudor painted ceiling. Venture into the estate on one of three marked walks; each takes you through ancient woodland and offers superb views of the Kent countryside. After your excursions, pop into the mote restaurant for a meal or some tea and cake. Plan my day in Sevenoaks using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.

The terrific volunteer tour guide made us see things that we might otherwise have missed. Such a beautiful location. Teenagers in tow so we kind of sprinted round it but will probably go back again another day and make a tour of the grounds. Catering facilities very good and even parking in the overflow car park did not place us too far away from the entrance.

What an amazing visit. Very rich history and it was super interesting. The staff here were super knowledgeable and there was a member of staff in nearly every single room to explain the history of the room. I thought that I would only be there for an hour but ended up being there for several. I could've easily spent way more time here and was only limited by other commitments. The cafe is a nice attachment and the food is very tasty. Also, the gooseberry chutney from the shop here is delicious.
