The 606 Club (also known as "The Six") is a jazz club in Chelsea, London. The club is in a basement venue at 90 Lots Road in London SW10 (opposite Lots Road Power Station) and is currently licensed for 175 people. It offers jazz, Latin, soul, R&B, blues and gospel music seven nights a week, and sometimes also on Sunday afternoons, making it one of the busiest jazz clubs in Europe. To visit 606 Club on your trip to London, use our London route tool.
The club has been owned and run by musician Steve Rubie since 1976. According to Rubie, the club's history goes back much further and it was active in the 1960s.
The club was originally a small 30-seater venue at 606 King's Road, but moved to its current site in May 1988.
In January 2020 the club defended its decision to host saxophonist Gilad Atzmon, despite accusations that he is antisemitic. Later that month it announced that Atzmon had “agreed to stand down” in order to "protect the venue’s reputation".
606 Club Reviews
I visited with my girlfriend and had the most superb evening. The band was so talented and the food was great. A thoroughly entertaining evening in a chilled, laid back and unpretentious setting. I..... more »
Researched and booked this in advance, pretty full on a Sunday night, simple tasty food and a basement 'speakeasy' with good wine and beer. Don't be put off by the gated entrance, you will get a warm.... more »
Great music, lovely food and really friendly, accommodating staff. It was nice to watch some live jazz on a Monday after work. I did have a group of about 10 friends who wanted to come along too, but as they were not members they decided not to come due to the "substantial meal" policy in order to drink alcohol. I understand this is part of their licensing agreement as a members club, however it definitely discouraged them from coming along. Other than that, it was a really nice night and would definitely recommend.
Went to 606 for my birthday and booked a table - spent over £800 and was trying to enjoy the jazz only to have the musician ridicule us and make us not feel welcome, we decided to leave half way through the night and the banter continued as the Muscian commented they have not left yet, as a life long jazz fan I will never be going back to 606!nor will any of my party and in the long term that’s not good for business for 606 - disgusting treatment and made it hard to enjoy what we came for...
