Arcola Theatre Reviews
The Arcola is one of London's best off West End theatres. It nestles down a back street in Dalston (Where?) But don't let that put you off. Despite the fact that it feels a bit alternative (there's a.... more »

Rating a theatre, of course, heavily influenced by the production seen. I saw "The Daughter-in-law" by D. H. Lawrence. A very powerful play well performed in Nottingham dialect of 1912, including many phrases of such interest and fun that I bought the script. The Arcola puts on many fringe productions of interest and earns good reviews: keep an eye on future productions. Theatre was the Reeves paint factory from 1866, with addition 1913. Look outside and admire the architecture of this and neighboring buildings.
Friendly staff, good layouts and a generally nice vibe. Only a 3 star as the ceilings in bathrooms are exposed and the insulation is coming down and it’s been like that for a while now. It wouldn’t take much to make it secure. It’s unlikely it’s asbestos but all insulation poses respiratory risk as the fibres are very small and sharp. Would be nice to see that rectified and boost the stars to 5
