Christie's, the world's oldest fine art auctioneer, has sold fine art, furniture, jewellery and wine since James Christie conducted the first sale in London on 5 December 1766. Ever since Christie's has continued to provide the perfect backdrop for the sales of the world's finest collections and greatest works of art before their auction. Christie's moved to its global headquarters at 8 King Street, St. James's, in 1823, still its London headquarters today.

  • The previews at Christie's are always fascinating to visit, with its variety of different spaces enabling it to fill everywhere for a major large scale auction, or to have several different previews.....  more »

  • The place is like palace and the staff are so helpful. Almost always have viewings on, so always a good place to stop by and enjoy the masterpieces.
  • I went to see the George Michael Exhibition before it was auctioned off for charity (a worthy act from a worthy man). Pity a U.K. museum couldn’t have taken the complete collection as it was outstanding... The gallery/auction house is over several floors and occasionally in separate buildings. This isn’t stuffy and intimidating, staff are reassuring in their presence and friendly, as you would imagine, so if you ever see an ‘open house’ and would like to look at Pre-Sale art don’t hesitate (you might actually end up buying something too!)
