Discover Children’s Story Centre is the UK’s first hands-on creative literacy centre for children aged 0-11 years and their families, carers and teachers.Put Discover Children’s Story Centre and other London attractions into our London trip planning site, and watch your holiday take shape.
At the heart of the centre, our purpose-built Story World and Story Garden are creative play spaces designed to inspire children’s curiosity and imagination. Our team of dedicated Story Builders guide children and families through the space and encourage them to create their own stories for Hootah, our resident baby space alien, to send back to his planet Squiggly Diggly, which has run out of imagination.
Changing once every six months to a year, our interactive exhibitions immerse families in the world of their favourite authors, from Oliver Jeffers to Michael Rosen and Dr. Seuss. Throughout the year we invite much-loved and up-and-coming authors, illustrators, poets, musicians, artists and storytellers to run exciting workshops. We want to help improve reading, writing, speaking and listening skills for children in fun and imaginative ways. Each year over 100,000 people benefit from our programmes.
Discover is a registered charity, all proceeds go directly into delivering high quality innovative work for children and families in east London.
Discover Children’s Story Centre Reviews
My 19th month old daughter loved Discover. We booked for the fairytales exhibition, which is an hour long - we could have staying in there for 3 hours! Dressing up, lights, games, not too crowded... more »
Took my 3yr old and 1yr old to visit. They enjoyed themselve and it is charming. The scenes are imaginative and well done. But its not huge, and the fact you have to pay for adults and extra for... more »
Good space for kids and definitely better than soft play. I went with a disabled child and although it was lovely we found some of the activities could have been a bit more accessible. For example having tables wheelchairs can fit under, also some of the doors were very tricky to get through with a wheelchair. Although high praise for the change table and hoist, it's a rare and appreciated addition and makes simple things like going to the toilet so much easier.
Great place for the little ones to go visit! Facilities are well kept, lots of toilets, and different rooms and areas catered for different attention spans! Lockers and buggy parks are provided which makes it a lot easier for any parent/carer. Super close to the station so getting there is easy. The play areas are secure and safe and the children’s activities keep the little ones preoccupied and happy for a long time! Seriously tempted to get an annual pass even though we live in the other side of london!
