Harold Pinter Theatre, London

#111 of 1,205 in Nightlife in London
The Harold Pinter Theatre, known as the Comedy Theatre until 2011, is a West End theatre, and opened on Panton Street in the City of Westminster, on 15 October 1881, as the Royal Comedy Theatre. It was designed by Thomas Verity and built in just six months in painted (stucco) stone and brick. By 1884, it was known as simply the Comedy Theatre. In the mid-1950s, the theatre underwent major reconstruction and re-opened in December 1955; the auditorium remains essentially that of 1881, with three tiers of horseshoe-shaped balconies.

  • Beautiful building in good condition, although despite air con it gets quite warm, especially in the Upper Circle and Balcony. So dress accordingly and if you can't handle the stuffy air stick to the Stalls or Dress Circle. Service is friendly although the bars are a bit slow due to the amount of people (but that's pretty standard in any central London theatre). Surprisingly good variety of G&Ts.
  • Really lovely theatre. Sat in the Royal Circle and I was surprised by how high up we felt. Due to the gradient of the seats there was hardly an issue with heads in the way. The seat cushions are a bit hard after a while. Really cute theare and perfect view from where I was sat
