The Crystal is a building on Royal Victoria Dock in east London that contains a permanent exhibition about sustainable development. It is owned and operated by Siemens. It is part of the Green Enterprise District policy that covers much of East London. Using solar power and ground source heat pumps to generate its own energy, it has set a high benchmark for sustainability. The building is the first to achieve the highest sustainable building accolades from the world's two leading accreditation bodies, LEED and BREEAM, Platinum and Outstanding respectively. The cafe here is fantastic. Very reasonably priced and food is great. Sells things such a soup, toasted sandwiches and wraps, homemade pizza, fresh salads, croissants and muffins. Highly recommended. more »
Visited this museum/exhibition centre while visiting the sites in the Greenwich area. At £5, this is a very reasonably prices exhibition by London standards. So the exhibition is an educational exhibition of urbanisation and sustainable ways of living with ideas on achieving those goals. Worth a visit if in the Greenwich area, although it's a bit far from the main Greenwich sites. The Crystal can be easily reached via the Emirates Air Line though
Great location for this building, have been here for a work event. The conference rooms are nice with good screens and placement. Refreshments and lunch was served which was outstanding and had 3 more helpings. Located 10 min walk from Canning Town tube station or you can get the Emirates Air Line over to Greenwich.
