With a history dating back to the early 1900s, The Original Tour is the first sightseeing tour of its kind. It was formally introduced by London Transport as ‘Service J’ for the Festival of Britain in 1951. The thousands of visitors descending on the capital were invited to take the tour “around the town for half a crown!”. At the time it was described as a non-stop circular tour of London operating with double-decker buses from Buckingham Palace Road in Victoria. As part of the tour, visitors were given a free London Transport Guide Book from which they had to identify the major sights of London. It was the first incarnation of the open-top sightseeing tours that are now a familiar sight in cities across the world.Take a look at our London trip planner to schedule your visit to The Original London Sightseeing Tour and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

Great tour by Joe! There are very mixed reviews on here but I can only compliment the great tour we had via the yellow route, traffic was very heavy and roads were closed but this isn't the fault of the bus company. This is London. Joe our tour guide was excellent, cannot recommend him highly enough. One point would be to have speakers installed at the back of the buses, you can't hear well at all if you are sat at the back of the bus, there are only speakers at the front and it's very noisy up top so this would be an idea for future development.
This tour was OK. The audio wasn't synced most of the time. I knew what to look for since I love London but often times we'd speed by and I'd have to quickly point so my husband didn't miss. We only had 9hrs in London so it was a good way to see a lot but we wouldn't recommend it if you had more time in the city
