Silecroft Beach, Silecroft

#6 of 6 in Beaches in Cumbria
Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Set on the edge of the Lake District National Park, Silecroft Beach remains a long, gently shelving beach quite popular with locals, anglers, and day-trippers. At low tide, the endless expanse of shingle and sand provides plenty of space for kiting, horse riding, and other holiday activities. The distinctly shaped 600 m (1,969 ft) elevated Black Combe overlooks the beach offering a great walk with sea views that extend as far as the Isle of Man. An area alongside the beach is home to local and migratory birds, as well as Natterjack toads. Amenities include a large parking, public restrooms, and ice cream van.
