Over 100 vendors sell a wide variety of cuisines from around the world at LA Farmers' Market. What's now an outdoor market started as a place for a few local farmers to sell their produce from their trucks during the Depression. The farmers' market quickly transformed into the massive permanent outdoor market that still stands in the same place. While there are no longer any actual farmers selling produce, the market has retained the original feel by prohibiting big chains, and keeping vendors local. Using our international travel planner, Los Angeles attractions like LA Farmers' Market can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

Definitely a fun place to visit in LA, as well as a historical icon (built in the 1930s)- even mentioned in a Beach Boys song! I visited a few times over the years - most recently in late September.... more »

If you like to just sit and relax and watch people this the place for you. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit back and watch the world walk by. Supposedly an area the Hollywood stars are known to be seen. James Dean ate his last breakfast here. This is a truly diverse shopping area. The up-scale The Grove shopping area is next door to the east. A free trolley, the kids will love to ride, will transport you there. The food is fabulous. Anything in the world (literally) is there for the eating. You name it, you can find it. From a butcher’s shop to candy store. Must eat at Du-Par's Restaurant – it a trip back in time 50 years when you enter. It’s been there since the 1930s and feels it. Comfort food at it’s finest!

If you've never been to the Original Farmers Market, stop reading this review and go now. The place is steeped in history and it shows. You can get all kinds of delicious food and drinks here from the various little stands. I've eaten at a different place here every time and have not been disappointed.
