Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum, Faulconbridge

Lovely house adorned with a selection of Lindsay’s watercolours (my favourites), oil paintings, etchings, ceramics and miniature ships. You can’t take photos inside. The tour is very informative and made me realise what an amazingly creative individual Lindsay was, who turned his hand to all sorts of arts and crafts, including some of the furniture inside the etching studio. Add the sculptures created in the sprawling garden and you begin to understand why the guide referred to him as a polymath. Perhaps the real revelation for me was the role played by his second wife, Rose. She understood the value of his work and applied entrepreneurial spirit which he implicitly trusted. And she became a master craftsman at etching, converting Lindsay’s plates into paper art form. The museum should however more readily advertise the times of these guided tours so that visits can coincide with the tours as they literally add a lot more colour to the life and art of the Lindsays. Also, if you have young children, there is a small section dedicated to the Magic Pudding but it is not a focus of the exhibition.

Loved the gallery & grounds. The cafe 's ambience was nice . However cafe was too pricey , had tea & scones the teapot contained hot water as staff had not put tea in it! When told of this they brought pot back & still was flavourless, sad to say a teabag would have been better! Was charged over $30 for 2 teas x 2scones by 2 people. Would not recommend the cafe .
