Independence Monument, Phnom Penh

Featured on the 100 riel banknote, this impressive 20 m (66 ft) tall lotus-shaped structure takes after Angkor Wat, celebrating the country’s independence from foreign rule. Erected in 1962, with carved multi-headed "Naga" snakes bursting out of the corners of lotus petals, this red-brown stone monument stands as the centerpiece of a roundabout surrounded by a large park area.
