Roam the stalls of Jean-Talon Market, a farmers market in the Little Italy district of Quebec's largest city. Named after Jean Talon, the first intendant of New France, the market opened in 1933 and has since become a focal point of the neighborhood. Wander the rows of open air-stalls filled with colorful fruits, vegetables, fresh meat, and seafood. Sample local snacks or baked goods, visit gourmet stores for some artisan cheeses and wine, or get a hot cup of coffee to sample as you explore. Make Jean-Talon Market a centerpiece of your Montreal vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Montreal road trip app.

  • I was unimpressed. Maybe it was the time of year and they were wrapping up. I thought there would be a larger variety of different food stalls and shops. Conveniently close to the Metro.

  • A fantastic local market with great produce and lot of variety. A fun place to hang around for couple of hours to see the local vegetables and meat. Also a great place to shop for souvenirs. I liked the variety of lavender flowers and oils. Easily accessible by train.
  • What a beautiful market. It has something for everyone and I find it BOOMING every day and every season, regardless of how terrible the weather is outside. It's filled with everything fresh, beautiful and unique at times. Definitely love going there whenever I can. Best place for gardening season preparation and we find the quality plants.
