St Bartholomew's Cathedral
Check out the view from the top of the Czech Republic's highest church spire at St Bartholomew's Cathedral. If you're standing on the 60 m (195 ft) high gallery of the tower on a clear day, you can see all the way to the mountain peaks of the Šumava region. The construction of this state-protected cultural monument took more than two centuries, beginning in 1295 and wrapping up early in the 16th century. The cathedral features some priceless works of art, the most valuable of which is the 14th-century Gothic statue Madonna of Plzeň, which is next to the altar. The stained-glass windows and the monumental crucifix on the main altar are particularly stunning, too. Take a look at our Pilsen online trip planner to schedule your visit to St Bartholomew's Cathedral and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

A grey cathedral. The cathedral is a wonderful example of gothic medieval architecture. You can walk around the entire structure, as it is located in the middle of the beautiful main square of the city. The interior has many lovely paintings and altars. The hanging central cross with mourning John and Maria’s is exceptional. You can climb the impressive tower for a far view of the area. Well worth a visit, which is free when we went there.

A beautiful church located in the city square. Highly recommend stopping by and taking a look around, it's very well maintained and preserved. We sat and had lunch on the outskirts of the block, it's a beautiful view from the outside too. There are little markets around the outside on the weekends for shopping, souvenirs, trinkets, and snacks.
