Prague Zoo occupies a wooded area on the right bank of the Vltava River. Home to nearly 5,000 animals from almost 700 different species, the park offers you a chance to come face-to-face with giraffes, gorillas, polar bears, tigers, and red pandas. Although the park shelters over 130 species listed as critically endangered, its most important possession may be a herd of rare Przewalski’s horses, native to the steppes of central Asia. Stop by to see the descendants of the last Przewalski's horse caught in the wild, and discover other highlights of this animal sanctuary by taking a guided ride on the zoo's miniature cable car. Prague Zoo consistently ranks among the top ten zoos in the world... and with good reason. It can a 5-6 hours walk around its massive grounds and enjoy all it has to offer. The animal runs are spacious and modern (Africa world and the new elephant house are particular highlights) with improvements being made all the time. If you have not experienced a truly world class zoo before, start here.

The zoo is out of this world. The conservation & work that the zoo put into making the animals happy is incredible. Wear comfy shoes because we spent a good 5 hours walking around. You can either take the tram, or walk through Prague "central park" it's beautiful and perfectly safe. It will be great to see the new polar bear & gorilla exhibit when we come back to Prague.
